Lisa Black, New York Times Bestselling Author, wrote in the introduction, “the stories ... range from creepy to terrifying to old-school whodunit to just plain fun.”
If you are in the area, stop by one or both of the events. They are free and open to the public.

WIP (Work in Progress)
Murder in the Terrace Room --- It's finished!
Murder in the Terrace Room is with an editor/agent. Keep your fingers crossed that it will find a home. I’ve been noodling around with an idea for the next novel in the B&B series and one in the Mariposa Beach series too.

In July, I went to Sleuthfest over in Deerfield Beach. I met new authors and caught up with some friends. It’s like a family reunion.

In August, I went to Asheville for my good friend, Sue’s birthday. Nine women stayed in a log cabin (a large one) in the mountains. We had a great time visiting Biltmore and hanging out in Asheville. They have a champagne bar bookstore. It was awesome! Their bills came in Dr. Seuss books!

It was a cloudy, drizzly day but the gardens were still beautiful

Can you find the hummingbird?

My granddaughter came to visit and we visited Mote Marine. It's a great facility here in Sarasota. Drop by and visit if you are in town.

Coming up in October, we are heading to Scotland for our nephew’s wedding. They’re getting married in a castle. Pictures in the next newsletter.

What have you been reading and watching?
So far this year, I’ve read 33 books. I just finished Rhys Bowen’s The Paris Assignment. I love her WWII standalone historical fiction. I also love her Lady Georgie series.  Prior to that, I read Pachinko, also a WWII historical set in Japan during and after the war. It’s our next month’s book club selection. This month, we also read Clap Your Hands When You Land. It’s about family secrets discovered after the father dies. I listened to The Houseguest by Hank Phillipi Ryan. If you like twisty suspense, check this one out. I am currently reading After That Night by Karin Slaughter. It’s the latest Will Trent novel. Have you watched the Will Trent TV show? I like that it follows the books fairly closely.

I’m very excited that the new season of Virgin River dropped this week. I’ve already watched 4 episodes. I’m also into The Lioness on Paramount+. At the movies, I saw the new Indiana Jones movie. I loved the little tributes to the old movies, and I saw The Miracle Club with Laura Linney, Kathy Bates, and Maggie Smith.

Until next time – take care.
